Steppin’ Up the Flower Game…

This time last year, Lauren & Scott were sealing the deal in one of the most unbelievable and unexpected venues we’ve ever had the pleasure of styling.  You would think that the only kind of “ceremonies” happening at a high school would be for graduations or awards, right?! Wrong!

This very cool couple chose Common Ground High School as their “outside the box” venue, using it’s impressive outdoor area for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and the large, industrial gymnasium as the reception space.  Located in New Haven, Connecticut, this charter school also serves as an urban farm and environmental education center.  The core of Common Ground’s work is rooted in active, authentic learning, social justice and the environment, all while building an inclusive community for its students and families.  We’ve got to say, we’re impressed by a couple who manages to give back ti the community on a day that is supposed to be entirely about them!!! (Rock on L&S!)

The KLW team joined forces with a handful of industry innovators and trendsetters to bring the event to life.  Normally, transforming a gymnasium into a dazzling reception space is no easy feat, but this particular space was designed with excellence in mind.  Clean, modern and entirely lacking of the customary sweaty gym bag scent most of us remember from our own high school pep rallies. The entire property was a lovely blank canvas for our creative minds to conjure up some seriously dreamy florals for.   Far and away, our proudest moment from this elaborate experiment was the extravagant concrete step install that Lauren & Scott requested.  Using an array of late spring/early summer blooms – garden spray roses, peonies, delphinium, spirea and hydrangea – the KLW team rose to the occasion. We give ourselves an A+!  The florals framed the walkway into the reception and dinner buffet and provided an unparalleled backdrop for this epic celebration. Extra special shout out to Amy of Amy Champagne Events for being such a peach to work with, and a very heartfelt congratulations to Lauren & Scott on their 1st year of marriage.  Cheers to many, many more.

xo,

the KLW team
